Handy Dandy Character Commission Template


Copy and paste this into either a Word document or message body when you E-Mail Me with what you want.  If you've never commissioned an artist before, this really helps both you and me get to the really important stuff that I need to create your comission.  You don't have to use the template of course, but be aware this is basically what I will need, especially if I am doing a color commission for you.

Below is more in depth description of what the fields mean.


Real Name: -- What it says.  What's your name?

E-mail: -- The e-mail you would prefer I use to contact you about this.

Mailing Name:  -- What do I put on a shipping lable?  If you are buying the commission as a gift for someone else, you can put their real name here or just write "same as above" or "self" if it's for you.

Mailing Address:  -- What's the address to put on the shipping label? Where do you want me to ship your commission? (Not applicable in the case of Icons)

Payment Type: --  Please list HOW you paid (paypal, mailed a check/money order) and WHO it was from (The name on the the Paypal account or check.)  This helps me link back to the correct order.

Type of Commission:  --  What do you want?  A pencil sketch?  A black and white ink? A magnet? A digital color drawing?  A color ink drawing?  Please list what it is you are ordering here.   Types of commission descriptions can be found HERE.

Number of Characters:  -- How many characters do you want in the peice?  (Magnets and Bookmarks have a limit of one,  Badges two headshots max)

Character's Name(s):  --  This helps me for reference and for names on Badges.

Species: -- What are you?  A snow leopard? A dragon? A horse? A human? A rubber chicken? 

Eye Color: -  What color are your characters eyes?

Hair Color: -- This pertains to head hair, if you have any.  What color is your character's hair?

Hair Length/Style: -- Does it fall to the shoulder? Down the back? Braided? Loose? Short and spikey?   Multiple colors?

Height: -- How tall is your character roughly?  6 feet?  5 foot 2 inches?  100 feet and three quarters inches tall?

Body Type:  -- Is your character a body builder type or  lanky?  Tall or short?  Fat or thin? 

Unusual Markings/Features:  -- Has your character got wings?  Tattoos? Stripes? Scars? Polka dots?

Clothing:  -- What is your character wearing?  Any special items like a sentimental peice of jewelry?  Do they wear shoes? (I usually draw characters without shoes)

General Description:  -- Anything else you wish to tell me about them physically.

Personality Overview: -- What is your character's personality like?  Are they nice, mean, sneaky, confident, shy, sarcastic?  This helps with creating expressions.

What You Want Them Doing:  -- What do you want them to do in the picture?  Reading a book?  Leaning on a tree? You  can list very simple background objects here. 

Background?:  --   Fill this out in detail ONLY if you have paid for a Complex Background.  See about Complex Backgrounds HERE

Any Reference Pictures you can show me?:  -- If you can attach or link to any renderings done by other artists or reference pictures in general that you would think would help me out, I greatly appreciate it!   This helps get everything done a lot faster.
